Drivers with Diverse Needs

On Friday 17th April 2015 I attended the Driving Instructors Association training day about drivers with diverse needs.

What an informative course. Despite having a mild mobility problem myself, when I was panning my continued professional development for 2015, I realised that I knew very little about drivers diverse needs.

The course examined what can go wrong with our bodies, such as joint disease, nervous system, brain functions and our eyes. Loss of limbs and psychological illness were also covered.  There were also discussions about how trainers can help to support their clients such as different leaning approaches, referrals to experts at regional and local assessment centres and car adaptations.

If anyone wants any further information please contact me. This is particularly relevant to anyone managing staff driving for work such as fleet and health and safety managers.
