I read an article in this month’s FleetWorld entitled The Department for Eco Driving.
The Minister for Transport, John Hayes, was given the opportunity to spend time with an Energy Saving Trust’s Eco-driving scheme trainer and ended up making an impressive 12% improvement in fuel economy.
Most drivers can improve their fuel economy by developing their anticipation and planning. For example, keeping the car going by timing their approach to traffic lights and making rolling starts rather than stop starting all of the time. Using higher gears earlier and coming off the gas instead of having to brake.
